Overview

As the UK’s leading supplier of gaming and amusement machines, Dransfields has supplied private members clubs, pubs and the licensed trade for over 75 years.

The Leeds-based company supports venues across the country with the installation of digital juke boxes, pool tables and fruit machines and offers a rapid response engineer service 364 days a year.

Problem

The main issue that Dransfields’ engineers encountered when installing machines on site was that they couldn’t pre-empt which network would provide — and maintain — the best connection for each gaming machine. Another problem that the company faced was the fluctuations in costs from its previous SIM card providers.

Dransfield’s contacted 24 Seven for the team’s knowledge and advice for a cellular connectivity solution that would support the machine-to-machine (M2M) devices it installs across its client’s venues.

The gaming supplier not only needed a roaming SIM card option that was compatible with its existing machines, but it also required a secure solution that meant its machines could stay online — reducing the need for engineer callouts.

Solution

To help keep Dransfields’ gaming machines and juke boxes connected, 24 Seven provided the company with its smart roaming SIM card solution, Jump SIM. Our team’s unwavering support since Dransfield’s initial enquiry in 2016 has resulted in over a decade-long partnership between the two businesses.

Due to Dransfields’ head office being in Leeds, the firm has benefitted from being in close proximity to the 24 Seven offices, meaning SIM cards can be supplied on demand. One of the key reasons why Dransfields has continued to work with 24 Seven is the instant support its internal teams have received when needed.

Another feature that Dransfields has benefitted from is the need for multiple aggregated IoT SIM contracts — meaning data allowances for each SIM can be aggregated into one pool of data. For example, a gaming machine in a pub may only use 1Gb of data during quieter periods but may use up to 6Gb worth of data the next month. This ability to switch between SIM allowances means Dransfields’ machines will continue to work during busier periods.

Commenting on the service provided by 24 Seven to date, Matt Linstead, National Service Manager at Dransfields, said: “Ben and his team have been excellent for Dransfields, they are always on hand should we encounter any issues, if we require any more SIM cards they are usually supplied within 24 hours. They come highly recommend if you need a cellular solution”
